Utter welcomes submissions of all forms of poetry, fiction, nonfiction, & art. We will only accept submissions through our submissions manager. We ask that you read our previous issues & the guidelines below before submitting your work.
We read submissions throughout the year and welcome simultaneous submissions as long as we are notified immediately if a piece is accepted elsewhere. If you need to withdraw a single piece, please send us an email at uttermag@gmail.com. Previously published material will not be considered for publication.
By submitting, you agree that the work is your own & that it has not been previously published. If your work is accepted for publication,Utter assumes first North American serial rights. This means that we are the first to publish your work in the North American market. All rights revert back to the author upon publication. Proper acknowledgment must be given to Utter if the work is published in the future with another market or in a book. If you have questions that aren’t addressed on this page, contact us at uttermag@gmail.com.
Poetry should be single-spaced unless form demands otherwise. Fiction & nonfiction must be double-spaced.
Please include a short bio in the cover letter when submitting your work. This will expedite the publishing process. Feel free to include contact information in your bio. Maybe you’ll get fan mail, tweets, & pokes.
